2020 Premier League

The inaugural DPSTL Premier League kicked off in February of 2021 at Concord Bowl. The Premier League is a $500 added invite only league of the Top 10 players (based on PPR) that played at least 2 DPSTL leagues in the previous calendar year. Matches are broadcast live on the DPSTL YouTube channel on Wednesday nights.

The inaugural season was interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Play was postponed in late March just before Phase 1 ended and resumed in May after the lockdown was lifted. Normally after Phase 1 the two lowest players would be eliminated and the Top 8 would move on to Phase 2 but due to the lockdown and other factors two players – Zach Fuchs and Jeff Hall – had to drop out leaving the remaining 8 players to battle it out in Phase 2. Phase 2 was dominated by Bill Shollenberger. Sholly ran up a 12-1-1 (wins -draws- ties) record to take the number 1 seed heading into the playoffs. Jordan Meyer secured 2nd place with a 8-2-4 record and Eric “Edubb” Robinson finished third at 6-3-5. The final spot and number 4 seed was a tie between Curtis Strite and and Bobby Dees, Jr. But Curtis got the spot thanks to having the better leg differential at +2.

Playoff night saw a bit of an upset as number 4 seed Curtis Strite beat number 1 seed Bill Shollenberger. But Curtis was playing at a pretty high level at that time that wasn’t reflective in his 4th place regular season finish. Jordan Meyer defeated Edubb in the other semi final to set up a showdown with Curtis in the Championship. Curtis prevailed once again to become the first DPSTL Premier League Champion.
